Sexual Definitions

Bisexual:

"I'm not a lesbian, but my girlfriend is."

Bisexuality refers to the sexual oritentation where a person is attracted to people of both genders, female and male. Simple right? So why is it so many people have a hard time accepting my sexual orientation?

Polyamorous:

     "Love's not a crime."

Polyamory means "loving more than one". This love may be sexual, emotional, spiritual, or any combination thereof, according to the desires and agreements of the individuals involved, but you needn't wear yourself out trying to figure out ways to fit fondness for apple pie, or filial piety, or a passion for the Saint Paul Saints baseball club into it. "Polyamorous" is also used as a descriptive term by people who are open to more than one relationship even if they are not currently involved in more than one. (Heck, some are involved in less than one.) Some people think the definition is a bit loose, but it's got to be fairly roomy to fit the wide range of poly arrangements out there.
Again, it's a simple definition. A polyamorous person is one who's capable of having multiple lovers. So, why do the vast majority of people have a hard time with this part of my sexuality too?

Plushiephiliac:

"Does doing a muppet count as bestiality?"

Plushiephilia refers to the condition of being sexually turned on by stuffed animals. For some reason, most people find plushiephilia very kinky.

Yiff:

     "Qeustion socially taboo topics."

Yiff is a furry term for "to have sex with." When used as an adjective, "yiffy," it refers to someone who's horny. "Yiffers" are two people who yiff. You get the idea. I find that using the term yiff seems to make some people more comfortable about talking about sex. It removes the social taboo barriers for some, but others find it incredibly offensive.

Note: The bisexual, plushiephiliac, and yiff definitions are my own. The polyamorous definition was taken from the FAQ of the newsgroup alt.polyamory. Here's the complete FAQ.
